Different Types of Polypropylene Weave

　　When I visited the Internet for information on polypropylene fabric, it provided some types of weaves to use to make it suitable for various applications while adhering to important technical parameters. Plain weave, twill weave, and satin weave are the three main weaves of polypropylene.

　　Plain Weave: The first type is a plain or tabby weave, an essential and widely used pattern in which the weft yarn passes over one warp yarn and then under the next. It shows a tensile strength of about 50 MPa and can, hence, be used for manufacturing tarps and bags. Moreover, its moisture resistance remains at about 0%, which is critical for outdoor products.

　　Twill Weave—Twill Weave has a slanting rib pattern that enhances durability and drape, making it ideal for upholstery and automotive fabrics, among other uses. The tensile strength of twill-woven polypropylene may go up to 70 MPa, which allows it to carry more weight. In addition, it is highly resistant to moisture, thus making it good for environments likely to attract water.

　　Satin Weave—This particular style possesses many filaments on its surface, leading to smoothness and glossiness. Even though such a kind of satin weaving may lose some structural rigidity, it still has high tensile strength, averaging around 40 MPa, alongside excellent moisture repellency. People often prefer this kind of weave, where aesthetics are paramount, an example being fashion items like accessories.
